Application materials are invited for a 1 1/2 year full-time Visiting Assistant Professor position starting in January 2013. The department seeks candidates whose primary area of specialization is Sociology to teach Introduction to Sociology, Sociology of Family, Social Welfare Institutions, or other courses as appropriate to qualifications. The teaching load is four courses (two preparations) per semester. Required Qualifications: ABD in Sociology or a related field and relevant teaching experience. Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in Sociology or a related field. The Sociology/Anthropology Department has roughly 270 Sociology and Criminology majors. They already hired one of their adjuncts who does not have a PhD in hand. He will start in the spring of 2013. I believe that they received some applications from recent PhDs but the job goes to the insider.
