Fairleigh Dickinson University's Department of Social Sciences and History on the University's Florham campus in Madison, New Jersey invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position in Sociology with specialization in one or more of the following areas: stratification, (global) labor markets, urbanization, economics, and comparative sociology. This position is open for the Fall 2012 semester. Founded in 1942, Fairleigh Dickinson University is the largest private University in New Jersey. Becton College has a long-standing tradition of honoring and supporting the liberal arts while providing students with a small classroom experience. Located in a beautiful town and rich with architectural history, this campus is conveniently located close to New York and New Jersey's metropolitan areas.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or show evidence that the Ph.D. will be in hand by time of appointment. The area of specialization is open and candidates should be qualified to teach a broad range of undergraduate courses within an interdisciplinary department of 14 faculty that includes Anthropology, Criminology, Economics, History, Political Science, and Sociology. An ideal candidate will teach Introduction to Sociology, and in addition teach two upper level courses in their specialization on a rotational basis such as Research Methods, Stratification, Economic Sociology, Urbanization, labor Markets, etc. . A commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarly research and service to university are required for this position.
Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
