Degree and area of specialization:
A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university AND two years of applicable experience OR a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university AND four years of applicable experience.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Two years minimum experience depending on degree. Relevant fields of study and/or experience include higher education administration, student personnel, social work, sociology, counseling, educational or counseling psychology, women's studies, LGBT studies, cultural/ethnic studies, or other fields related to job responsibilities described below.
Desired and Relevant Experience
Successful candidates will exhibit experience, competency, and capacity in the following areas of work:
Collaboration with diverse students groups and groups of students on events and programming that facilitates identity development, personal growth, understanding of social identities, and action towards social change;
ability to deliver effective educational trainings which are based in a deep understanding of power, privilege, intersectionality, and social justice;
plan, execute, and assess events and initiatives that support the core mission of the LGBT Campus Center and the communities which the Center serves;
a commitment and understanding of work in a higher education setting done through the lens of intersecting social identities, social justice, and empowerment;
network with campus partners towards establishing a campus-wide network of support and inclusion of LGBTQ individuals.
Principal duties:
Program Management- 20%
Design, execute, and assess programs that meet the diverse needs of the LGBT Campus Center communities
Manage and grow the LGBT Mentor Program, including a redesign of learning outcomes, mentor trainings, and program evaluation
Work in concert and collaboration with LGBT Campus Center student staff, interns, and campus partners to develop and plan new, innovative LGBT Campus Center programs that align with the Campus Center's mission.
Educational Training- 20%
Design, execute and assess educational curricula to be used during the Queer Emerging Leaders Program and LGBTQ Leadership Institute.
Participate in the LGBTQ Ally Training Program as a co-trainer.
Work with the Assistant Dean/Director and academic partners to design co-curricular learning opportunities.
Event Planning-20%
Design, execute, and assess events that build community across the spectrum of sexual orientation and gender identity.
Work in concert and collaboration with LGBT Campus Center student staff, interns, and campus partners to develop and plan new, innovative LGBT Campus Center events that align with the Campus Center's mission.
Supervise student staff and interns in the successful execution of signature Campus Center events that include Coming Out Week, Trans Awareness Week, Out and About Month, and Rainbow Graduation.
Student and Student Organization Advising-20%
Facilitate student learning in the areas of academic and career success, leadership development, interpersonal communication, and conflict resolution.
Foster the growth of student organizations through event co-planning, coalition building, and informal advising.
Facilitate connecting students and student organizations to campus resources.
LGBT Campus Center Support- 10%
Represent the LGBT Campus Center and/or Director on campus or divisional committees, work teams or groups.
Participate in the hiring, management, and supervision of LGBT Campus Center student staff, interns, and volunteers.
Foster a positive and professional learning environment for peers and students leaders.
Assist with responding to student requests for information and materials regarding LGBT Campus Center services and programs.
Division of Student Life Responsibilities- 10%
Advance the mission, vision, and strategic priorities of the Division of Student Life.
Demonstrate a commitment to fostering an inclusive living-learning-working community.
Actively participate in divisional work groups and committees.
Represent the Division on campus committees, initiatives,, and events as requested.
