you got me wondering about January, but according to the data posted by our kindly archivist on the "where are all the jobs? thread" (misc. topic board), it's been more like a spikelet. Roughly even with December. That said, last year, both of the interviews I did manage to get came in the spring. Feb. and April I think. Several of my friends got a lot of spring action too.
Closer to the topic at hand on this music thread, whenever I see a job I had hopes for has started scheduling interviews which I am apparently not part of, I get this in my head: "...another one bites the dust..."

a few:
reading some of the aggression around here: "this is such a pity" weezer (" This is such a pity. We should give all our love to each other. Not this hate that destroys us")
to the bureaucrats gutting funding for universities: "Johnny Appleseed" Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros ("if you're after getting the honey, then don't go killing all the bees")
to the people who talk down to graduate students: Umass, pixies (we're not just kids, to say the least we got ideas to us that's dear)
to that ex: "she says it's alright" the rentals ("I love the Smiths and my cigarettes, like you in my bed, but I don't need you to get by")
to how I feel at the ASAs: London, London - Caetano Veloso ("I'm wandering round and round here nowhere to go While my eyes Go looking for flying saucers in the sky")
On adjuncting: Career Opportunities, the clash (" Career opportunities are the ones that never knock Every job they offer you is to keep you out the dock Career opportunity, the ones that never knock")
on this market:
delete yourself , atari teenage riot ("delete yourself, you have no chance to win")
To my current partner: Hit, the sugarcubes ( I lie in my bed - totally still, My eyes wide open - I'm in rapture. )
to sociology: I love rock and roll, jesus and mary chain (I had trouble, but I found my star)
and if you got all these references, we really should talk
