Community Development: Associate Dean, University of Minnesota Extension, Center for Community Vitality. University of Minnesota Extension is searching for an Associate Dean to lead its Center of Community Vitality. The Center makes a difference by engaging Minnesotans to strengthen the social, civic, economic and technological capacity of their communities through programs, initiatives and applied research related to its two program areas: Leadership and civic Engagement and Community Economics. This position is an excellent opportunity for an individual with the right mix of experience to engage communities and stakeholders with University scholarship to address the critical issues facing communities across Minnesota and beyond. We seek a strong, visionary leader who will enhance the current partnerships, vision and direction for the Center, while maintaining a vibrant, efficient and innovative organizational culture. With a Ph.D. in a related field, the successful candidate brings experience in leadership and management for program design, evaluation and applied research related to programs and initiatives in community development for communities of place, identity and/or interest. Having contributed broadly to community-building initiatives and community development in her or his professional career, the successful candidate will bring an enthusiasm for leading and managing a talented group of faculty and staff dedicated to the mission-oriented work of creating and contributing to community impacts. A strong history and passion for collaboration will ensure the efforts of the Center are aligned with other departments and units at the University and in Extension; other state cooperative extension programs; and mission-related partners (e.g., foundations, government agencies, etc.). Required: A Ph.D. in community development, rural sociology or sociology, community or social psychology, leadership development, applied economics, planning, public affairs, or other programs emphasizing these and related fields.
